I am John Martin.  Born and bred in Cornwall and I have spent more than 16 years specialising in boiler servicing and repairs. Starting out in our family business, and learning my trade before working in France, Grand Cayman and Holland to broaden my experience.  I started my own business in 2014 and spend my days helping the lovely cornish folk service their boilers, repairing breakdowns and enjoying a chat and an occasional cup of tea.


I am GAS SAFE, NICEIC, WRAS and OFTEC registered giving you the reassurance you can trust that I know what I am doing,  and you are in a safe pair of hands.  Check my GAS SAFE registration identity so you can be sure the man you book is the man that turns up.  After all I recognise this is your home and you should feel safe.

Why should I have my boiler serviced every year?

Have you ever got to the point where the heating stops working or the hot water runs cold.  The family seems to just stop and freeze.  Then you try and find an emergency plumber and they are either too busy or too expensive.  And if they do turn up the boiler warranty will not cover the repairs so you better get your credit card out?

Ever wondered "how often should I get my boiler serviced?" or  " Should I sign up to a boiler repair plan?".  

Having your boiler serviced is a bit like having your Car MOT completed.  Get it done once a year.   That way you can ensure you can reduce your energy bills, save money on last minute repairs, keep your boiler warranty valid, and of course keep your home warm and safe.

For those of you who are Landlords, Holiday Let owners or have Business to run don't forget that a safe boiler and working heat and hot water are a legal requirement.  Don't get caught out.

Reduce Energy Bills

A well maintained and serviced boiler will work more efficiently, saving on wasted fuel, and as a result will use less energy, reduce your carbon footprint and save money on your energy bills.

Save on big repair costs

Having your boiler serviced every year will help maintain the working parts of your boiler and improve the reliability of your heating system.  This could identify minor issues which, if left unresolved, could cause more significant damage and increase future repair costs.   Regular maintenance also helps extend the life of your boiler saving money on replacement of faulty parts and or a new boiler.

Safe and Warm

A faulty part or boiler can not only mean a cold home and unpredictably cold showers, but it could also be dangerous. An annual service will not only clean and service those components that may trip your boiler off, but it could also safeguard against fires, explosions, leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning.  Making sure you boiler is checked once a year makes sure the major parts of your boiler are checked and working safely. Making sure your home is warm and water is hot.

Carbon Monoxide gas is extremely dangerous - we recommend you fit, test and replace a carbon monoxide alarm near your boiler. Ask us to fit and or check an alarm during your annual service.

Stay covered by your warranty

New boilers generally come with fantastic warranties that cover major faults and repairs.  And some of them up to 7 years or more.  Not only does this mean you can be sure that you are covered should something go wrong, but it also reduces the need for costly breakdown service cover.  But for your warranty to remain valid and cover you in the event of something breaking down you need to show a service history.  Indeed some home insurance policies require an annual service too.  Booking an annual service with a GAS SAFE engineer should ensure this cover remains in place.

Protecting yourself and your tennants

It is important that any landlord letting a property as a home or a holiday must have the boiler and associated appliances checked annually.  We can do much more than check your boiler -  we check pipework, appliances, flues and vents.  Testing and installing Carbon Monoxide alarms.  All of this, so you can rest easy that you are letting your property within the legal requirements and that your tenants or holiday makers remain safe.
